Washington Mutual is once again sponsoring the savings account plan for our students. Applications were sent home Thursday September 25th with all students. These accounts are free [of any monthly service fee] to all enrolled students who participate and for every 3 deposits a student makes, they earn a prize. These prizes will vary but some past prizes were glue sticks, glow-balls, pencil boxes, calculators! The banking program will commence on Thursday October 2nd and every Thursday thereafter during morning recess, under the center Pergola. Returning students do not need to complete applications. New account applications are always welcome; please allow 3 weeks for rosters to be updated to include your new account. What a great way for our children to learn to save. Let's hear it for WaMu! – if you have any questions, please contact Tündi Goldstein at

. Parents & Students of Woodlake: WaMu deposits continue to be insured by the FDIC. WaMu issued a statement this week that their strength and security continue, now that they are backed by JPMorgan Chase. The WaMu School Savings Program will continue to operate as usual at our school. If your child has an existing account or is interested in opening one through this program, we look forward to seeing them each Thursday at the Pergola during recess. |

Get to know the children in your child's classroom and their teacher by being room parent. Attend one meeting (20 minutes) where you will receive an instruction folder complete with schedule, phone numbers of support people to help you along throughout the semester. One or two people liaison with the teacher once a week, attend PTSA meetings, (if able) monitor classroom opportunities and coordinate reminders to those involved with your classroom projects (crafts etc.) and events (celebrations etc.).
