The after-school drama program scheduled for Tue afternoons has been postponed. The course will be offered beginning Jan-17. The director apologizes for any confusion this may have created and looks forward to starting the Willy Wonka production in the Winter. Woodlake Movie Night, Saturday, October 15th

Parents of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth are invited to attend workshops at the Models of Pride (MOP) conference to be held at the University of Southern California, Exposition Boulevard and Figueroa Street, in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 15, 2011.
The first restaurant night at Ruby’s made $259.55 for Woodlake! We had 41 flyers turned in during the event. Thanks so much to all the families that made the time to come out, join the fun, and help to support the school and PTSA. Our next scheduled restaurant event is November 2nd at McDonald’s. Details for the McTeacher night will be posted closer to the event along with the required flyer. This is a favorite of the kids so be sure to mark it on your calendar!
On Saturday, Oct 22nd, thousands of Los Angeles area K-5th grade school children and parents ceremonially begin running/walking 26.2 miles in increments of ¼ to ½ mile at a time over six months, coloring in their Marathon Kids Running Logs©. They also are challenged to eat 26.2 days a month of 5-a-day fruits and veggies, coloring in their “Fuel Logs”. Together in a free, glorious, ceremonial Kick Off Celebration, they will start their first mile of their marathon, with other Los Angeles area schools and families, and UCLA athletes.
Please join us for the first PTSA mtg tonight at 6:30pm. There are only (4) association meetings this year. So, don’t miss out! We will meet in the auditorium on the Woodlake campus. And as an added benefit, we are serving a pasta dinner before the meeting. So, join us early for a sit down dinner at 5:30. We will have pasta, drinks,and salad in the cafeteria area outside the auditorium. See you tonight!
DRAMA WORKSHOP
Grades K – 2, Beginning October 19!
This is the perfect introduction to drama and musical theatre. All of the children will learn acting skills through scenes, monologues, theatre games, and improvisation. We will also learn songs and dances from Broadway shows including “Peter Pan” and “Annie.” Families are invited to join us for a special showcase performance following the final class.
Musical Theatre Production
Grades 1 – 5, Beginning October 18!
Join Charlie, Violet, Mike TV, and all of your favorite characters in Roald Dahl’s timeless story of the world-famous candy man and his quest to find an heir to his chocolate factory. The children in this program will have the opportunity to perform in a full-length musical production, learning basic acting, vocal, and dance skills, while expressing themselves, using their creativity and imagination, building their self-esteem, and having fun! No experience necessary. We will be donating the ticket sales to our opening performance to Woodlake.

A list of After School Enrichment classes offered this fall was sent home today (sep-15) along with flyers for each class sign-up. The schedule of enrichment classes has been posted on the site here. The schedule includes classes organized by day, the room location and the duration of the class. The flyers were not provided as digital files so I need to scan and save them in order to post. But, I will update the schedule with links to the flyers as I complete them.
